7 Quick Takes Friday: Two

– 1 –

Every single time I see a place offering free or cheap books, I think, “Jen, you do not need any more books. Seriously.”

Quicks Takes. 1

And then… I end up bringing some home because there are so many good books in front of me just waiting to be read. A local library is having a book sale this weekend (I’m talking $.50 to $1.00 sale), so, naturally, here are the books I brought home today.

Quicks Takes. 2

Because I’ve found myself sketching letters more and more. I’m actually very excited about this find.

Quicks Takes. 3

Because who doesn’t want to make twenty-four creative projects using a variety of techniques?

– 4 –

Quicks Takes. 4

Because the cover caught my attention. Yes, sometimes I judge a book by it’s cover.

– 5 –

Quicks Takes. 5

Because Chesterton and Saint Francis.

Quicks Takes. 6

Because Mother Teresa.

Quicks Takes. 7

Because I’m sure my friend is tired of me borrowing her copy.

7 Quick Takes Friday: One

This year, my sister and I split cooking duties. She covered the turkey with the sides I don’t like and I covered the Tofurky with the sides I do like. My kitchen smelled of garlic broccoli, curried sweet potato fries, and parmesan roasted green beans.

Last year I had to blast the green beans with a hair dryer because I forgot to defrost them the night before. This year I defrosted them, but forgot to give them time to dry. Maybe next year I’ll finally get it right.

I digress… It all tasted delicious. So, as per usual…

Thanksgiving is a favorite holiday because it’s always a good time when my siblings and I (and niece) are able to be in the same room with my lovely mother. The number of guests fluctuates each year based on who needs a home for Thanksgiving, and while I love that, I appreciated the intimate dinner this year.

Also, Thanksgiving is a favorite holiday because it marks the day I can listen to Christmas music without shame. I must admit, because of the Pentatonix video flying around the interwebz, I started diving into my Christmas playlist a little early this year. And I loved it. But now I feel free from judge-y eyes.
